SureTeq Case Study
SureTeq is a Ventura, California-based trixbox CE reseller. In addition to providing customers with trixbox® voice over IP (VoIP) solutions, the company is a full service IT consulting firm for the small and medium business (SMB) market.
About two years ago, SureTeq began deploying VoIP solutions from Asterisk®. However, after a year of working with native Asterisk, SureTeq knew it needed to find a different VoIP offering. "Asterisk has a very steep learning curve, almost like learning to program. Unless you come from a programming background, it is extremely difficult to use," said Chris Sherwood, CEO of SureTeq.
Consulting firms like SureTeq survive and thrive by providing customers with the best of the best technology products and services. Sherwood wanted to provide SureTeq customers with a VoIP offering that was easy to deploy, had robust features and didn't break the bank. That is where trixbox CE came in. Once Sherwood determined that native Asterisk didn't meet SureTeq's needs, he began searching for an alternative. "As soon as I learned about trixbox and became familiar with it, I realized that it was the way to go for 95 percent of the SMBs out there," said Sherwood.
Today SureTeq specializes in trixbox CE, mainly due to its ease of installation and product reliability. Since it began working with trixbox, SureTeq has installed and deployed it at 15-20 customer sites. "trixbox CE has an intuitive FreePBX GUI interface, which makes the installation and configuration process so simple that pretty much anyone could get a trixbox PBX system up and running in an afternoon," said Sherwood. "I like the HUDlite product from Fonality, which adds some nice additional features. Plus, you can't beat trixbox for reliability and its ability to scale."
In addition to its own trixbox customer deployments, SureTeq is also providing support to many other companies around the world that have deployed trixbox themselves. "SureTeq created and posted its own trixbox documentation that many people have downloaded. As a result, companies all over the world have contacted SureTeq about supporting their trixbox installations." SureTeq currently provides support all around the globe for two to three times its deployment customer base.
